World War One Experiences of Robert Parel Parker
Description
by Shanna Parker Grow & Beverly Parker Ellsworth
Paperback
Robert Parel Parker's World War I experiences were intense. He served in the celebrated Thirty-second Division, the ted "Red Arrow" Division. Assigned to be an "observer," he went behind enemy German lines to spy on them, and went "over the top" in battle many times. As a “doughboy” struggling in the trenches with all its gassing, bombing, disease, and lice, he served in all the major WWI battles in which the American military participated. He was one of the fortunate ones to survive.
These events are recorded by two granddaughters using his letters and diaries and other first person accounts of members of his infantry and division. The authors traveled to France one hundred years to the date after he returned from the war in order to document where he had served
