Poppy Seed Packet

$2.00

Description

The most famous poem to emerge from World War I was Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae's "In Flanders Fields." Memorized by countless schoolchildren, its first lines guaranteed that the poppy became the flower of remembrance for that great conflict.

After the war, handmade poppies were sold to raise money for disabled veterans. Poppies continue as an adornment to remember those who served.

Planting Instructions:

Poppies grow best in full sun and require well-drained, fertile soil. Remove existing growth and scatter seeds on bare soil in a sunny spot, then compress seeds into the soil. Keep the area moist. Annual wildflowers should begin blooming approximately 6-8 weeks after planting.

Plant wildflowers in spring or fall. If in spring, plant after frosts, and in fall any time after the growing season ends. In no-frost areas, wildflowers can be planted anytime - the rainy season is best.

Contains 1 standard packet of poppy seeds
